Two-time Academy Award-winning Best Director Steven Spielberg made his feature film debut with the independent movie Firelight in 1964. Shown at a local movie theater, the film reportedly made $1. Although it’s not been seen since, small snippets have been included in various documentaries. An inauspicious debut for the teenage Spielberg perhaps, but the dry run for an American masterpiece, Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977).
